If you’ve ever tried a diet and felt like it didn’t work, you’re not alone. Most diets fail—and it’s not because you lack willpower. It’s because they’re designed to be unsustainable.

Diets often start with restriction, cutting out certain foods or drastically reducing calorie intake. This triggers feelings of deprivation, which lead to bingeing or overeating. Afterward, guilt and shame set in, restarting the cycle of restriction. This is known as the diet cycle, and it’s exhausting.

The truth is, diets focus on short-term results rather than long-term health. They don’t teach you how to listen to your body’s natural hunger and fullness cues or how to make balanced choices that nourish you.

Breaking free from the diet cycle starts with shifting your mindset. Instead of chasing quick fixes, focus on building sustainable habits. Practice intuitive eating, which encourages you to trust your body and honour its needs. Recognise that health is about more than weight—it’s about how you feel, physically and emotionally.

Diets promise change but rarely deliver lasting results. What could your wellness journey look like if you left diets behind and embraced a compassionate, sustainable approach?
